Frequently asked questions

What is your typical design process?

Every project starts with a conversation. In doing so I will gain insight into who you are, what your goals are, and your specific project needs. I will then spend some time researching and exploring your industry, looking at competitors, and finding general inspiration (depending on the size of your project this could be a simple or fairly detailed step). From here the process can vary based on which services you are needing, but generally I present you with concepts, make revisions if needed, and package up all of your completed designs.

* If you are interested in custom development let me know, and I can include any dev work into an initial proposal.

Do you offer 3D / Animation design?

I am personally not a 3D designer or animator, but have worked closely with a few experts that can come on board and help add those types of elements to any project.

* If you are interested in custom 3D or animation let me know, and I can include any work into an initial proposal.

What design programs do you use?

My primary design tools are:

• Figma
• Adobe Illustrator
• Adobe Photoshop
• Webflow

How long will my project take?

There are a lot of factors that can effect a project timeline. For most branding projects I estimate around 1-2 months from when we officially start the project. Website designs are a bit harder to estimate because the scale can be so drastically different.

Do you do any last-minute designs or quick-turnaround jobs?

Depending on my availability I do consider taking on rush jobs from time to time, however quick-turnaround projects are subject to a rush fee. I will even guarantee a finished result (provided that feedback and communication are timely).

I'd like to work with you. What do you need from me to get my project started?

All projects, except for hourly work, require a 50% upfront deposit for the total project cost (unless we have agreed to break the project up into larger phases). This is to insure that both parties are committed to working together. I will also send over a contract for us both to sign. Once all the business stuff is behind us we can get rolling on the fun stuff.

How do you send final project files?

Most projects will consist of a Figma file, and an organized dropbox folder with all of your assets (JPG, PNG, SVG, AI, PDF). I will also send over a a PDF that helps you get started using your new brand.

* Each project is unique so there my be additional items that need to be included in the final project folder.

How much do your services cost?

Well it depends. There are a lot of factors that go into pricing a project including: what services you are looking for? Are you needing a 3 page website designed or a 50 page website? Do you want a simple brand with only one logo or one with twelve variations? When are you needing the project completed by? etc. If you would like to discuss pricing further I will need some more information from you. Fill out our quick project inquire HERE.

Do you charge hourly or by a fixed rate?

I prefer to work within a fixed budget when possible. That way we can come up with a clear roadmap for your project. In the end I know what I need to deliver and you know exactly what you're going to spend.

I do also work with clients on an ongoing basis. In these cases is makes more sense to approach the relationship at an hourly rate.

Do you require a deposit?

All projects, except for hourly work, require a 50% upfront deposit for the total project cost (unless we have agreed to break the project up into larger phases). This is to insure that both parties are committed to working together.

* I am open to creating custom payment plans in special cases.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I'd say one of my favorite things about my job is getting to meet new people and bring their ideas to life. Every project is different and has its own set of challenges and while the process doesn't change dramatically, the outcome always does. It's a really rewarding and fun job to have.

Why adammade?

You know, sometimes in life we overthink and we end up making things more complicated than they have to be. My name is Adam and I make stuff. It just made sense.

How long have you been designing?

I've been designing for over a decade. I got my first design job in 2012 and have been doing it ever since.

What is your educational background?

I graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a BFA in Graphic Design. Since then, I've become a well-rounded designer with experience in UI/UX design, branding, and illustration. Over the years, I've worked on all sorts of projects, from rebranding companies and creating university websites to designing virtual reality experiences and interactive exhibits.

What are some of your hobbies?

Living in Chattanooga I am super fortunate to have access to the best of the outdoors. In my very little free time, I love hiking with my dog Bear, kayaking, cruising my bike around town and snowboarding (when I get the chance). I use to play soccer and rugby but now i've settled for playing Rocket League instead. I also own a small company called NATIVEMADE where I enjoy creating locally inspired apparel and goods.

What is your favorite tv show?

When it was still on Netflix you could find my wife and I watching the office on repeat. I think one of my favorite quote is, “I'm not superstitious, but I am a little stitious.” - Michael Scott

How do you take your coffee?

On a cold morning I like to enjoy a hot cup of black coffee, but when the weather is nice you can find me sipping on a vanilla iced latte with oat milk.
